Songs of Purandara Dasa
Songs of Sri Annamacharya:
Under this stream of music, we offer Sri Annamacharya Songs. Annamaya or Tallapaka Annamachari was a divine saint of the 15th century and considered as a complete Indian classical musician who composed songs called Sankirtanas in praise of Lord Venkateswara.
Annamacharya is said to have composed as many as 36,000 songs (sankeertanas) on Govinda of which only about 12,000 are available today. Annamacharya considered his compositions as floral offerings to Lord Venkateshwara. In the poems, he praises Venkateswara, describes his love for him, argues and quarrels with the Lord, confesses the devotee's failures and apprehensions, and finally surrenders himself. His songs are classified into the Adhyaatma (spiritual) and Sringaara (romantic).
In his later compositions, he focused and provided real meaning on subjects such as morality, dharma and righteousness. As you note, learning or reciting these songs provides an opportunity to understand, know the nuances of life lessons & to enable every individual to become a completely better human being. Come enjoy the beauty of the compositions, enjoy the rhythmic classicals like never before and feel the calmness in your inner self.
